Steering wheel shaking?
Mobile wheel balancing on your drive or at work
Mobile wheel balancing on your drive, at work or in a car park: we take the wheel off, balance it in our van and torque it back on to the manufacturer's figure. Balancing is free with every tyre we fit, and we don't balance at the roadside in an emergency, or ever on a motorway or dual carriageway.
- Balanced in our van, where the car is
- Never on motorways or dual carriageways
- Free with every tyre we fit

Signs your wheels need balancing
The usual sign is a vibration through the steering wheel at speed, often after a new tyre or a knock against a kerb or a pothole. If you feel it, tell us when you call: with each wheel off, we check it for other damage before it goes on the balancing machine in our van.
We don't diagnose other mechanical faults, and we don't do wheel alignment (tracking), so if the shake isn't coming from the wheels, it's a job for a garage.
How mobile wheel balancing works
We jack the car with the handbrake on and take the wheel off. In our van it goes on the balancing machine, which spins it and shows where weight is needed, and the weights go on.
Then the wheel goes back on the car, torqued to the manufacturer's figure. Every tyre we fit on an emergency call-out or a booked job is balanced the same way, free, apart from at the roadside in an emergency and on motorways and dual carriageways.
Prestige cars are welcome. We take on the high-value wheels a lot of garages turn away because they're too expensive to risk damaging.

Where we can balance wheels, and where we can't
We balance wheels on your drive, at work or in a car park. We don't balance at the roadside in an emergency, and we never balance on a motorway or dual carriageway.
If we fit a tyre for you at the roadside or on one of those roads, you book the balancing for a time that suits you, with the car parked somewhere safe. Van wheels are balanced too: see mobile van tyres.
