What personal information JL Mobile Tyres collects when you call, message or book, what we do with it, and your rights.
Who we are
JL MOBILE TYRES LTD (“we”) runs JL Mobile Tyres, a mobile tyre fitting business registered in England and Wales under company number 16467207. We decide how your personal information is used, which makes us its controller under UK data protection law.
We're a mobile business with no premises for customers to visit. To ask about your information, email office@jlmobiletyres.co.uk or call 07955 732337.
What we collect
- Phone calls: your phone number and what you tell us about the car, the tyre and where you are.
- WhatsApp: your number, your messages and any photos or location you send us, such as a photo of the tyre sidewall or the puncture.
- The booking form on this website: your name, your phone number, the postcode where the car is, what you need, when you need it and, if you add it, your tyre size.
- Email: your email address and what you write to us.
- The job itself: where we met you, the car, the work we did, the price and a record that you paid.
- This website: our hosting provider automatically records technical details, such as your IP address, your browser and the pages requested, to run the site and protect it from misuse.
Why we use it, and the lawful basis
- To give you a price and an arrival time, and to book the job: taking steps you've asked for before a contract.
- To do the job and take payment: performing our contract with you.
- To follow up after a job, for example to check everything is fine: our legitimate interest in looking after our customers. You can ask us to stop at any time.
- To keep accounting records: a legal obligation.
- To run and secure this website: our legitimate interest in a working, secure site.
We never sell your personal information.
Who we share it with
We use a few companies to run the business. Each handles your information only to provide its service to us:
- Vercel, which hosts this website.
- Google, which runs our email.
- Our accountant, who sees job and payment records to keep our accounts.
- Our card payment provider, when you pay by card.
- WhatsApp, run by Meta, which carries the messages and photos you send us there. Meta also handles some of that information under its own privacy policy.
We also share information when the law requires it, for example with the police or a regulator. Some of these providers store information outside the UK, for example in the United States. Where they do, the transfer is protected by the safeguards UK law requires.
Cookies
This website doesn't set cookies of its own. There are no tracking or advertising cookies, and we don't run analytics.
The footer shows a live Google map of our Business Profile. Google Maps sets Google's own cookies, under Google's privacy policy, so the map only loads once you've said yes: on your first visit we ask, and if you accept, the map shows on every visit. If you decline, the map stays switched off until you press “Show us on Google Maps”. We remember your choice in your browser's local storage, not in a cookie. You can change your mind at any time with “Cookie settings” at the bottom of every page.
If you follow a link to another site, such as WhatsApp or our Google reviews, that site has its own cookie and privacy policies too.
How long we keep it
- Job and payment records: up to 6 years.
- Enquiries that don't become jobs: 12 months.
- Website technical logs: a short period, kept by our hosting provider for security.
Keeping it safe
We keep your information on password-protected devices and accounts, and we give each provider only what it needs.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you can ask us for a copy of your information, ask us to correct it or delete it, ask us to limit how we use it or pass it to another provider, and object to how we use it, including any follow-up based on our legitimate interests. Contact us using the details above and we'll reply within one month. We may have to keep some records, such as accounting records, even if you ask us to delete them, and we'll tell you when that applies.
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, please tell us first. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we use your information, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
