FAQs
Questions drivers ask us
Straight answers to what we're asked most on the phone. Anything else? Call or WhatsApp: it's quicker than reading.
Booking and arrival times
How soon can you get to me?
In our core area we're usually with you in 30 to 60 minutes. Further out, we tell you the real arrival time when you call, before the van leaves. Put your postcode into the checker on the areas we cover for your usual time.
Are you really open 24 hours?
Yes. Our two vans work 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, out of Bromley, with no extra charge at night or at weekends. Night call-outs are part of our emergency tyre fitting.
How do I book?
Call 07955 732337 or WhatsApp us with your tyre size, where the car is and whether you have the locking wheel nut key. You get a price and an arrival time, and once you say yes the driver sets off and calls you with updates on the way. For a job that can wait, send a booking request.
How far will you travel?
We take jobs up to 2 hours away. Beyond that we only come if you can't find anyone nearer, and we tell you the honest arrival time first. See the areas we cover.
How long does a mobile tyre fitting take?
In our core area, a tyre change usually takes 60 to 90 minutes from your call to driving away. A puncture repair takes 15 to 30 minutes once we're with you.
How do I know I'm dealing with the actual fitter?
Ask where the firm is based and whose van will turn up, because some websites are networks that pass your job to someone else. Our number is the one on our vans, and the van that comes out is ours.
Can you get to a car in a multi-storey car park?
Yes. Our vans are 2.78 m tall, too tall for most multi-storeys, so we carry the tools up to your car and take the wheel down to the van. We work anywhere, including hospital car parks.
Prices and paying
What will I pay for a call-out?
From £80 for the call-out, plus the tyre. You get the exact price on the phone before we set off. Every price is on what mobile tyre fitting costs.
Is it cheaper to book for tomorrow?
Usually, yes. An emergency call-out means we leave straight away and costs more than a booked one, though there's no extra charge at night or at weekends. If the car can wait, tell us when you call or book a day.
Do I get a price before you set off?
Yes. You get the price and the arrival time on the phone or WhatsApp, and the driver only sets off once you've said yes. Nothing is added at the car unless a locking wheel nut has to come off, and then removal is added to the total.
How can I pay?
By card, cash or bank transfer, paid to the driver at the car once the job is done. Fleets can pay by invoice.
Do you take my old tyre away?
Yes. We take the old tyre away when we fit the new one, at no charge.
What do you charge to repair a puncture?
From £20 plus the call-out. Send us a photo of the puncture first so we can tell you if it's repairable, then you get the exact price before we set off. More on mobile puncture repair.
What do you charge to remove locking wheel nuts?
From £150. You get the exact price on the phone before we set off, once we know the car and whether you want replacement locking bolts fitted, which cost extra. More on locking wheel nut removal.
Punctures and repairs
Can my puncture be repaired?
Not always: it depends on where the damage is. Send us a photo of the puncture on WhatsApp and we'll tell you before we set off. If it can't be repaired, we fit a new tyre at the car instead.
How do you repair a puncture?
From the inside, with a mushroom patch, to the British Standard BS AU159. We take the tyre off the wheel, repair it in the van and balance the wheel before it goes back on, and we repair van tyre punctures too.
Is a puncture repair guaranteed?
Yes, for that puncture: if the same puncture needs re-fixing within 3 months, we come back and do it free. New damage isn't covered.
What happens if my tyre can't be repaired?
We tell you, and price a new tyre before doing anything else. Send us the tyre size, or a photo of the sidewall, so we can bring the right one.
My car has run-flats. Can the puncture be fixed?
We don't repair run-flats, because repairing them isn't generally advised; we fit a new one in any brand and size instead. What the tyre makers say is in can a run-flat tyre be repaired?
Locking wheel nuts
What if I can't find my locking wheel nut key?
We remove locking wheel nuts without the key, at your car. When we arrive we help you look for it first, and if it's gone we take the locks off. More on locking wheel nut removal.
Can you definitely get it off?
We won't promise before we've seen it, but we start with a non-destructive method that rarely fails. If it doesn't work, we ask you before trying a destructive one. We take on rounded nuts and snapped keys too, jobs many fitters won't touch.
Will removing it damage my wheel?
We work to avoid it. We always start with a non-destructive method, and if that doesn't work we stop and ask you before using a destructive method on the locking nut.
How long does it take to remove a locking wheel nut?
Usually 15 to 60 minutes once we're with you, depending on the nut.
Can you fail an MOT for a missing locking wheel nut?
Yes. A missing wheel nut, bolt or stud is a major defect in the MOT inspection manual, so the car fails. That's why we ask, when you call, whether you want replacement locking bolts fitted after we take the locks off. They cost extra and vary by car, so we arrange the right ones for yours.
Tyres and vehicles
What size is my tyre?
It's printed on the side of the tyre and looks like 205/55 R16. Not sure? Send a photo of the sidewall on WhatsApp and we'll read the size off it for you.
Which tyre brands can you fit?
Any brand, in any size, for cars, vans, 4x4s and SUVs. Tell us the brand you want when you call and we'll price it.
Do you fit tyres on vans?
Yes, on vans and light lorries up to 7.5 tonnes, at home, at work or at the roadside, and we offer regular fleet tyre checks for local businesses. We don't fit tyres on heavier lorries. More on mobile van tyres.
Will you work on a prestige car?
Yes. We give a premium service on vehicles of high value, the cars a lot of garages refuse because they're too costly to risk damaging.
Do you balance the wheels?
Yes, in the van, free with every tyre we fit. We don't balance at the roadside in an emergency, or ever on a motorway or dual carriageway: you book the balancing for a time that suits you, somewhere safe. More on mobile wheel balancing.
Can you help with a flat battery or a flat electric car?
Yes. We jump-start or replace flat batteries, and we give electric cars an emergency top-up: most get to about 20% in under an hour, enough to reach a charger, never a full charge. More on jump starts and EV top-ups.
Do you store my off-season tyres?
No. You keep your summer or winter tyres yourself; we swap them over at your car but don't store them.
Safety and the law
What is the legal minimum tread depth?
For cars and light vans it's 1.6 mm, across the central three-quarters of the tread and around the whole circumference (the Highway Code on GOV.UK).
Is 3 mm of tread legal?
Yes. The legal minimum for a car is 1.6 mm, so 3 mm is above it. If you're getting close to the limit, send us a photo of the tyre and its size and we'll price a new one.
When should I change my tyres?
By law, before the tread wears below 1.6 mm, and a tyre must also be free of certain cuts and other defects (the Highway Code on GOV.UK). If you can see damage on the sidewall, send us a photo and we'll tell you if it needs replacing.
What should I do if I get a flat on the motorway?
Leave at the next exit or pull into a service area if you can; if not, stop in an emergency area or on the hard shoulder, get out on the side away from traffic and wait behind the barrier. Don't try to change the tyre yourself (Highway Code rule 277). Our guide to a flat tyre on the motorway covers each step.
Will you check the wheel is safe before I drive off?
Yes. Every wheel we refit is torqued to the manufacturer's figure, and the driver resets your tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS) with you before you go.
Are part-worn tyres safe?
We see them as a risk, because you never know where a part-worn came from or how its tread has worn. We'd rather price you a new tyre.

Flat tyre right now?
Call or WhatsApp. You'll get a price and an arrival time before we set off.
